SURFING AT SEAFORD SECONDARY COLLEGE

Based on the Fleurieu Peninsula’s Mid Coast it was inevitable Seaford Secondary College would develop a strong surfing tradition and over the years we have featured strongly at all levels of surfing competition state wide and nationally. Since opening in 1996 at least one Seaford student has represented SA at every annual National Junior Surfing Titles. Many of our students have gone on to win the State Open Surfing title and former surf team member Dion Atkinson has competed successfully on the ASP World Qualifying Circuit. Over the course of the year our surfers are involved in a range of activities.

SASSA COMPETITION

The SA School Surfing Association runs 3 competition rounds resulting in the selection of the state team. A final team event coincides with the presentation of results and awards. Seaford Secondary College has won the team contest 11 times.

School trials for each division team (Open Boys, Open Girls, Under 16 Boys and Under 16 Girls) are generally held early in Term 1.

GIRLS’ LEARN TO SURF DAY

Late in Term 1 every year, girls from Seaford take part in a whole day of surf instruction.  This is a very popular event and raises funds for Multiple Sclerosis Australia.

AFTER-SCHOOL SURFING

During the warmer terms we run learn to surf and training sessions at South Port in association with Port Noarlunga Aquatics Centre. These are held after school from 4:00pm until 5:30pm. Look for bulletin notices and posters advertising these activities.
