Welcome to Seaford Secondary College
Our work at Seaford Secondary College is underpinned by 3 key beliefs, which customise everything we do:
1. Students need safe conditions to learn. We have a commitment to consistent responses and have ensured additional leaders to cohorts of students to enable greater support for students to make positive choices. Restorative practices form the basis for interaction between students and staff and provide a tool kit for solving problems and developing positive resolutions.
2. Intelligence is fluid and is underpinned by the knowledge that through targeted intervention, student skill level increases. Learning is our highest priority and forms the foundation of our commitment to cater for the individual learning needs of our students. If a student is experiencing difficulty at school; whether in learning, behaviour or engagement, the first action is to drill down to the learning needs of students. Our commitment is to develop students with growth mindsets, where problem solving, grit and challenge are a positive, exciting part of learning and value adds to their learning outcomes and preparation for life beyond school.
3. Students will grow in an environment of high expectations and standards.
A focus on targeted intervention and growth mindsets in years 7, 8 and 9 forms a strong foundation for our students when they embark upon the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) in years 10, 11 and 12. Developing purpose in our students and understanding their intention beyond school supports us to customise their learning program and pathways. Vocational Education and Training (VET) courses and specialist subjects enable us to provide a rich selection of opportunities for students. The role of our Community Partnerships and Career Coordinator has enabled us to provide this support to students whilst also developing partnerships with the new local businesses.
As a response to the needs of our students, we have employed a large number of additional staff to provide learning support and facilitate assistive programs.
The Daymap Learner Management System enables teaching staff to record and monitor absences, upload learning programs and undertake reports. For our families, the most significant aspect is the parent portal that enables you to monitor your child’s work, attendance and in the near future their progress.
Our staff members utilise this system to send group emails to parents and students in their classes to share information and update families on learning tasks. We know that a strong partnership with families, students and teachers directly improves learning outcomes.
