Seaford Secondary College host study tours from various countries every year. Host families are remunerated at $280 a week for offsetting costs involved with hosting a Study Tour student.

We are continually looking at expanding our list of Homestay Families. Study Tour groups come from all over the world and typically stay for 2 – 4 weeks. International students enrolled in the High School Study Abroad Program can stay for 1 – 4 terms.  During this time the students will participate in English Language lessons, local classes and go on tourism excursions.

As a local family hosting a Study Tour student, you will have the chance to:

  • Learn about other cultures, customs and traditions
  • Make lasting friendships with your student and their family
  • Participate in activities and meet other host families
  • Explore fun things to see and do in South Australia

I highly encourage all students’ families to consider becoming a Homestay Family. We carefully match all International Students to host families based on similarities and in addition to the student’s specific needs and your family’s requests.

Please watch this youtube clip to see the value of hosting an International Student:

All Homestay Families must complete an application form, and have a current Department of Communities and Social Inclusion (DCSI) Police Check Clearance for any person living in the premises who is over 18 years of age. Study Tours

Study Tours

Each year, Seaford Secondary College hosts a range of Study Tours from countries such as Korea, Japan, Cambodia and Thailand. Students are placed in an English as a Second Language (ESL) class, and also a mix of classes, based on their interests.

We conduct many local, cultural and exciting field trips including visits to Adelaide CBD, Central Market, Flinders University and Gorge Wildlife Park. Students also have the opportunity to participate in our Aquatics Program and experience activities such as surfing, snorkelling and kayaking during the summer season.

Our Study Tours are highly successful with testimony of our program receiving outstanding feedback from the Kyoto Board of Education, and the Consul-General for Japan for the 2014 tour group from Kyoto.
