A Story to Tell!

Fifteen Year 10 and 11 literary enthusiasts recently attended Immanuel College’s Once Upon a Festival, one of Australia’s largest youth literary events. They enjoyed workshops, talks, and book signings with renowned authors and illustrators, inspiring a love for reading and writing.

Highlights included a Halloween-themed horror talk from Mike Lucas, an engaging session with Don’t Call Me Ishmael author Michael Gerard Bauer, and a fantasy fiction discussion with Lili Wilkinson. The day wrapped up with a workshop on creative ideas led by New York Times-bestselling author Dr. Sean Williams.

Back at school, students are now writing a “Drabble” (a 100-word story), with the best entry winning a copy of Wilkinson’s A Hunger of Thorns.
