Fleurieu Folk Festival – Youth Mentoring Program
On Sunday, October 27th, four of our talented Music students – Zac Smith, Jason Coombe, Caleb Turner (Year 9), and Olivia Turner (Year 10) – proudly participated in the Fleurieu Folk Festival Youth Mentoring Program. During this exciting opportunity, they joined a three-hour workshop with renowned performers Felicity Dowd (NSW) and Monique Clare (QLD), focusing on developing their compositions, duets, and solo performances. Throughout the workshop, students explored essential skills like stage presence, audience engagement, sound tech etiquette, and refined their craft as emerging musicians. The hard work culminated in a live performance at 4:30 pm in the Village Marquee. Olivia showcased her talents on voice and piano, performing the heartfelt piece “Be Ok.” Caleb and Olivia then collaborated on Coldplay’s “Fix You,” with Caleb on electric guitar. The 3rd song showed Jason (vocals and guitar), Zac (drums), and Caleb (bass) performing their original composition “Along the Railway Track,” impressing the audience with their creativity and teamwork. It was a fantastic experience for all, and we extend a huge thank you to the parents who supported our students throughout the day! We can’t wait to see Zac, Jason, Caleb, and Olivia back on stage at our Arts Showcase on November 21st!
